Nhill has a rich history within Australia's aviation industry Nhill was the first official aerodrome between Melbourne and Adelaide Pilots have been training at Nhill for about 80 years. An RAAF training base was built at Nhill during WWII. Nhill Air Base started 19th
Sept 1941, finished Nov 1946. Total people passing out since
commencement – 8670 First planes to arrive – 8
Avro Ansons The Air Base was capable of
housing 2000 people
