Quick Overview

By Vincent Serventy. Published in 1985. 173 pages.

Hardcover in very good condition, ex-library with stamps, etc.

In March 1974, naturalist Vincent Serventy and three companions made the first recorded crossing of Lake Eyre by boat.  The three-day journey, over water at the highest level recorded since European settlement, was the start for Serventy of a 'love affair' with one of the most incredible places on earth.

In the decade since that massive inundation of 1974-75, he has returned many times to this 'desert sea' and witnessed and recorded on film and in words the miracle of Lake Eyre in flood.  This book is the result of those expeditions by boat, plane, foot and four-wheel drive..
