From Selection to City - secondhand
Quick Overview
Author: Steele Rudd
First published: 1909 This edition: 1969
Format: Softcover Pages: 106 pages
This book is essentially autobiographical, the story of Steele Rudd being in most respects the story of Arthur Hoey Davis, who used Steele Rudd as his pen name. This was one of his first books to contain references to Steele Rudd, who now tells his story in the first person. The events in this book were often told with special enjoyment when he was joined by his brothers Ned and Dick. The chapter "Off to the Shearing" shows Ned at sixteen and Steele at twelve leaving home and starting work at Pilton Station. At this comparatively early age Ned was a competent shearer.
